I would go on tour and I would come away with books that my fans had given me, like five hundred Bukowski books. They would come up to me and say, “Hey have you read Bukowski?” and I’d go “well…yeah…but thanks for the book”. And actually I don’t like the guy. I don’t think he’s a very good writer. He’s sentimental. There’s no separation between him and his writing. I never got him at all. His poetry stinks.
