Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It’s that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that’s what the poet does…and as I lie there in the dark I come to the conclusion, hey, maybe the guys at NAMBLA are right to want to have a debate on ‘youthful sexuality’ and maybe paedophilia shouldn’t be criminalised, it’s a free country right? Man, I should go advocate for them first thing in the morning…
