November 5th 1605, London. Just after midnight, having been tipped off by a letter to the 4th Baron Monteagle, authorities searching the undercroft of the House of Lords discovered a man guarding 36 barrels of gunpowder- and intending to make that day’s State Opening of Parliament rather unforgettable. Despite the failure of this plot, nobody ever forgot Guy Fawkes.
